– Consultation – Purchase of St Thomas Church

GENERAL PROJECT CONSULTATION

RYDE TOWN COUNCIL

PURCHASE OF THE FORMER ST THOMAS CHURCH BUILDING, RYDE.

At its meeting on 2ND September 2020 Ryde Town Council agreed to purchase the former St Thomas Church building in St Thomas Street, Ryde.  It is planned that the building will be refurbished and the Town Council’s Youth Service ‘Network Ryde’ will be relocated to the building, to allow additional space for increased youth services.

The cost of the purchase and necessary improvements is estimated to be approximately £286,000. This sum is planned to be met from a low cost 30-year loan from the Public Works Loan Board (PWLB). There is no forecast increase in the annual precept arising from the project as annual savings from the relocation of the Youth Service into St Thomas Church are estimated to cover the cost of loan repayments.
