– Consultation on changes to planning application submission.

The Isle of Wight Council, as Local Planning Authority (LPA), is required to review its list of local requirements for the validation of all applications every two years. The LPA has reviewed the local information required and is seeking your views on proposed changes.

The proposed changes are minor, as we are seeking to retain the existing list of requirements. The only change would be to add a requirement for all plans submitted for advertisement consent and householder planning applications to be no greater than A3 in size and for all submitted plans to include a scale bar.

These changes are linked to the LPA’s wish to increase efficiency through the introduction of a new electronic case management system, a reduction in printing and the ability for Officers or the public to scale plans on a computer screen, to an appropriate scale. We have chosen not to apply this change to additional types of planning applications for now, as we recognise that it may be difficult to show more complex or larger schemes clearly on an A3 plan.

Consultation information can be found online at https://www.iow.gov.uk/Residents/Environment-Planning-and-Waste/Planning/Planning-Development/Submitting-a-planning-application

The consultation will run for a six week period from Wednesday 10thApril 2019 to Midday 22nd May 2019. We intend to introduce the proposed changes, subject to the outcome of this consultation from 3rd June 2019.
