– Exhibition at Quarr Abbey

Summer Show, Quarr Abbey Art Gallery.

The gallery is open for this exhibition 10am to 5pm, from Thursday 8th to Tuesday, 13th July, free admission.

Archaeology, machinery and engineering, architecture and nature are just a few sources of inspiration for Andrew Dowden’s handmade, hand-carved sculptural ceramics on show in July at the Quarr Abbey Art Gallery.

Formerly a carpenter, Andrew was inspired to take up ceramics whilst researching “A Century of Ceramics”, the IW pottery book. Mainly self-taught, he enjoys constructing slab-built forms, with surface texture and hand-carving being his primary interest. Andrew’s textured wall art painted in oils, will also be on show, complementing his ceramic standing forms and tiled wall panels. All work is for sale and Quarr Abbey, a registered charity, receives a percentage of all exhibition sales. The gallery is open for this exhibition 10am to 5pm, from Thursday 8th to Tuesday, 13th July. Admission is free
