Council Meetings
Full Council – all 16 councillors make up the Full Town Council, which makes all the key decisions.
Meetings are chaired by the Mayor, and are open to the public unless confidential matters are being discussed. The Town Council meets on the first Monday of every month and members of the public are encouraged to attend and are able to ask questions at the beginning of the meeting in public question time.
The Council has devolved its powers to comment on local Planning matters to a Planning Committee. The Planning Committee also has a remit for Highways and Licensing matters.
The Town Council also has a Finance Committee which advises on budgetary matters .
Meetings are currently held in a number of venues across Ryde. Please check the Calendar for more details, and details are also displayed in the noticeboards out of the front of the Ryde Town Council Chambers. Meetings will all be wheelchair accessible and every effort will be made to ensure that a hearing loop is available.
All Council meetings are open to the public. Please click on the following for details of current planning applications, meeting dates and committee agenda and minutes. Details of Committee membership can be found by clicking here.
Please note that due to the current corona virus restrictions regarding public gatherings all Council and committee meetings will be held via the Zoom online platform.
In accordance with the Openness of Local Government Bodies Regulations 2014 the Council are required to allow any member of the public to take photographs, film and audio record and report the proceedings at all public meetings. It would be helpful if any member of the public that wishes to film or auto record a meeting lets the Town Council know so that arrangements can be made to provide reasonable facilities to facilitate this reporting. Reasonable facilities include space to hear and view a meeting, seats and a desk.
